How do reusable bags help our environment?

• The average person uses 350-500 plastic bags a year. One person alone can save more than 22,000 plastic bags in their lifetime by using reusable bags.
• 14 plastic bags contain enough petroleum to drive a car for 1 mile, and it takes more than 12 million barrels of oil to produce the amount of plastic bags the US uses each year.
• Americans use over 100 billion plastic nags each year, More than 500 billion are used world wide, and of that amount, approximately 4 billion become litter.

What can you do to help?

• Use a reusable bag for shopping when possible.
• Turn down a bag from the store if you do not need one.
• Put more items into each bag if possible to reduce the amount of bags you are using.
